Improvements to Avenida do Mar and Vale do Lobo Praça
The section of the Avenida do Mar between Dona Filipa Hotel and the pumping station and Vale do Lobo Praça will benefit from a major intervention aimed at restoring this public space to pedestrians, in a contemporary language adapted to the expectations and current urban living habits of citizens. Work is scheduled to begin in October 2020 and is expected to be completed in April of the following year, so as not to clash with the tourism high season, thereby minimising any possible disruption to tourists and residents. The work will focus on upgrading infrastructures and improvements to outdoor spaces, with pedestrian space enlarged, tree and plant cover enhanced and new urban furniture, ensuring more comfort to people using this space. The aim is also to provide the heart of Vale do Lobo with improved accessibility conditions for cyclists, with the construction of a cycle path along the entire length of the work. The redevelopment of this entire space will improve conditions for people in how they experience this space and, therefore, improve social interaction. This is another Infralobo project aimed at promoting modes of soft mobility, instead of car use, along with others that have been implemented in the territory.
